Lisa Noordergraaf

Tenor Saxophone

Lisa started her musical career when her mother enrolled her in violin at age 6. She soon added clarinet and piano lessons to her schedule, and continued her musical studies through college at the Eastman School / University of Rochester.

Lisa enjoyed working as a computer and software engineer for 30 years, which afforded her the opportunity to live and play music in California, New York, Massachusetts, and in her current home state of New Hampshire. In 2018 Lisa retired from her corporate job and enrolled in the University of New Hampshire to finish the music degree she started back in 1984; she graduated in 2020 with a B.M. in Music, with a focus on music education and jazz saxophone.

Lisa currently teaches music privately, and also instructs jazz ensembles in Concord and Belmont NH. She is a founding member of Contemplation Jazz (Arlington, MA), and enjoys playing with many local ensembles including The New Legacy Swing Band, The Freese Brothers Big Band, The Scott Spradling Band, Lakes Region Big Band, The Mood Swings, The Rockingham Groove, The Center Harbor Town Band, and more.

When she is not sharing her joy of music with others through music and performance, Lisa enjoys music composition and arranging, quilting, and relaxing with her two dogs.
